The pearl of Turkey, Antalya is an exciting city and a paradise for swimmers at the same time. 'Bordered by the Taurus Mountains in the north, being a cradle to civilizations,
Antalya is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with its breath-taking nature.' Dating back to cave era, Antalya has served many civilizations until the Ottomans.
A wide historical range more than 50 thousand artefacts, sculptures, etc. can be visited at Antalya Museum. Antalya “the home of Attalos” was founded by King Attalos II in 150 BC; and was an important port city for the holy land during the crusades. The west side of Antalya was known as Lycia. The cities such as Aspendos, Side was founded by the immigrants from the western coasts of Aegean Sea.
Antalya presents plenty of activities with world known museums, nature trips, rafting in cold creeks and rivers, golf resorts and Mediterranean’s clear, Blue Flag Sea.
Let me give you some information about the counties of Antalya if you have visited the city centre, old city, Kalekapısı, Fluted Minaret, Hıdırlık Tower, Seljuk artefacts and Lara beach…
Kaleiçi
Kaleiçi; the Old Town Kaleiçi means inside the castle. In Kaleiçi, the visitors will experience the original Antalya. Its small mosques and tumble down Ottoman Wooden houses reflects the life style and traditions in the region.
In the harbour (Yat Limanı), there are small cafes and bars where you can sit down and relax as you enjoy the beautiful view. Lose yourself in the maze of streets, browsing the many souvenir shops and admiring historic landmarks like Clock Tower (Saat Kulesi)

Perge
Perge lies 15 km east of Antalya and is the closest ancient large Roman site to the city. If you are interested in history and are in the area then it is definitely worth visiting. Apart from that there is not a lot known about Perge until Alexander the Great arrived in 333 B.C where it prospered greatly under his rule as the Perge opened up the gates to the town and allowed it to be used as his base during his Pamphylian campaigns.
After his death, it eventually came under Roman rule in 133 B.C and this is when it flourished most and indeed most of the ruins that are left today are from that era.
Aspendos
Aspendos has one of the most well protected structures from the city's antique history. "Aspendos Theatre-the best-preserved theatre of antiquity, with seating for 15,000 is still being used today.
" The theatre’s galleries, stage decorations and acoustics all testify the architect’s success. The acoustics of the theatre is so marvellous that unique activities such as International Golden Orange Film Festival and Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival are held here even today.
Kaş and Kalkan
Kaş is one of the most important diving centres of Turkey with underworld natural beauties.
Kaputaş beach hosts baby carettas. When gone to Kaş, archaeological sites listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List Ksanthos, Kyneai, Phellos, Apollania, Aperlai should be sightseen.
Kalkan is another small town where old Roman houses, Uçarsu Waterfall, Gömbe Highland, etc. are to be seen.
Kemer
Kemer is one of the most popular settlements of Antalya for centuries.
People fascinated by the beauty of Kemer founded Olympus 2200 years ago; and the chief pirate Zeniketes had a castle constructed referring as the most beautiful treasure of the world.
Manavgat
Manavgat is a paradise garden relaxing the soul and body. Manavgat waterfall is a must to see. It is also an unforgettable experience to sightsee the antique city Side and the beautiful vicinities by cabriolet buses.
